Pinxo is top French chef Alain Dutournier’s reasonably priced French restaurant situated in the small boutique hotel Renaissance Paris Vendome, perched along Paris’ right bank. Just a few steps away from the Louvre and the Seine, Pinxo is a casual brasserie where French cuisine is served in tapas sized portions, making it perfect for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime or in the evening. Acclaimed chef Dutournier, who also owns his own gourmet restaurant nearby, Le Carré des Feuillants, has teamed up with Joel Robuchon of L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon to create a restaurant with a difference where the traditional French style of eating is replaced by a more casual form. Pinxo is an informal area with wooden flooring, white walls and an all black kitchen, a simple template for an exciting and fun menu that is meant for sharing. Of course the food is exquisite; you wouldn’t expect anything less of two chefs of such high repute, with dishes such as Aquitaine beef and steak tartare accompanied by a slice of foie gras or rare sesame glazed tuna and sautéed squid with garlic chips. Pinxo is the perfect place to sample the delights of one of Paris’ top chefs without having to pay the earth for the privilege.
