Right next to the Hotel de Ville of Paris in the Chatelet area of the city is the historic Alsatian restaurant Le Zimmer. Opened by an Alsatian family way back in 1870, Le Zimmer is a restaurant that holds plenty of Parisian history. Next door to the famous Chatelet theatre, Le Zimmer played host to numerous artists and has received some very famous faces through its doors over the years such as Picasso, Lautrec, Njinski and Verne. During the Second World War it is said that the French resistance took up residence in the hidden third basement room. Redesigned in 2001, Le Zimmer is a beautiful establishment, with many of its original features preserved. The opulent golden ceilings and glamourous furnishings take diners back to a bygone era. Enjoy delicious French delights such as duck foie gras with onion compote or Chateaubriand Béarnaise. Open from early morning to late at night you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at this charming Parisian restaurant which forms an important part of the history of this magnificent city.
