A taste of Africa has arrived to Paris’ 12th arrondissement in the form of the superb restaurant Le Jardin de Balen
Le Jardin de Balen is a delightful restaurant in eastern Paris, close to the Porte Doree where the tastes of Africa are combined with the delights of south west France. Owners M and Mme Ascencio have created a warm and colourful restaurant with a dining room that emanates their African roots. Bright vibrant colours , plenty of greenery, African masks and exposed stone are the background for grass woven chairs and a lovely fountain feature. There is also a lovely terrace for warmer days and nights. The menu is an exciting blend of ingredients and recipes from the south west of France and African specialities with dishes such as crumbed avocado with shrimps, braised cabbage, smoked chicken and potatoes, poulet yassa and dill marinated salmon. Desserts like ginger flavoured pineapple carpaccio round off a meal nicely. Le Jardin de Balen is a great alternative in Paris’ thriving restaurant scene and offers a unique atmosphere along with some truly authentic recipes for those with a taste for culinary adventure.
