Montparnasse boasts its own little taste of India, Tibet and Nepal in the chic restaurant Le Gorkha

Just a few steps away from the Montparnasse Tower in Paris is the refined Indian restaurant Le Gorkha. A smart, contemporary eatery, Le Gorkha is a first class Indian restaurant but also specialises in cuisine from Nepal and Tibet, bringing a new gastronomical experience to the streets of Paris. The décor at Le Gorkha is stylish and chic with tones of chocolate and plum, creating a calm and sophisticated vibe. Beautiful authentic Indian artefacts and murals have been carefully placed around the dining room to reflect the restaurant’s roots but this is no tacky tandoori house that’s for sure, its style and sophistication all the way. There are three menus, giving diners plenty to choose from. The traditional Indian menu offers all of the usual favourites such as tikkas, tandooris and masalas, the Nepalese menu features original dishes such as chaw-chaws and momos (ask your waiter to explain what they are to you) and the Tibetan menu offers dishes such as momoks and bhaklebs. The staff at Le Gorkha are as friendly as can be and are always on hand to describe dishes and assist you with your choice. Le Gorkha is a restaurant well worth visiting if you are an avid foodie, keen on sampling the cuisine of countries you normally wouldn’t get the opportunity to.
