David and Julien Poulat’s delightful French restaurant Chez Julien – 6eme is the sister restaurant to the well loved Bistrot Henri in Paris’ 6th arrondissement. Opened over 25 years ago by their father, Bistrot Henri is a classic Parisian restaurant and Chez Julien -6eme is heading the same way. The interior is a stylish bistro setting, decked out in cool chocolate and cream, yet is a cosy and homely space and the terrace is a delight, offering al fresco dining overlooking the St Germain market below. This family run restaurant is a wonderfully friendly eatery where diners feel immediately at home and the service is excellent. Being situated next to a market naturally means that the food is as fresh as can be. The menu focuses on the cuisine of the South of France, where you may start with a dish of creamy mashed potatoes with cumin fried foie gras or octopus salad with warm potatoes followed by wild royal prawns with Provencal risotto, 7 hour slow cooked lamb with prunes and gratin daupinois or duck breast with honey and sautéed potatoes.
