One of Paris’ oldest restaurants is the Auberge Nicolas Flamel, named after the famous alchemist Nicolas Flamel, where awe inspiring French cuisine wows everyone who steps through its doors. The building dates back to 1407, and actually forms part of state heritage. Acclaimed chef Alain Geamm has recently taken over this fine establishment and has transformed it into a gourmet paradise, continually dazzling his diners with his exquisite dishes. Geamm has a wealth of experience behind him after having worked at many exclusive restaurants and his menu at Auberge Nicolas Flamel mixes up French classics with Mediterranean flavours using only the best ingredients. Favourites include 4 spice duck foie gras on upside down crusty potatoes, fillet of beef with wild mushrooms and gratin daupinoise, grilled sea bass with a mix of pesto flavoured vegetables, candied lemon and thyme and the piece de resistance – dessert of flourless chocolate heart shaped cake in a mini cocotte with violet sorbet-simply amazing! The wine cellar boasts over 150 vintages. There are some surprisingly well priced set menus to choose from and the set lunch at 18.50 for 2 courses is incredible. You’ll certainly enjoy a meal to remember at Auberge Nicolas Flamel, one of the oldest buildings in Paris with a menu to die for.
